According to the American Association of Orthodontics, children should have an orthodontic screening at around age seven. These visits enable your Riverside Dental Group orthodontists to examine the current state of the jawbone, watching for concerns that could lead to severe misalignment unless addressed. Our team can then begin Phase One treatment, using interceptive orthodontics to guide the growth of the smile and limit the severity of poor alignment, creating space for permanent teeth and reducing the time kids may need braces or Invisalign® in their teen years.

Our Interceptive Orthodontics

The first phase of treatment involves the use of orthodontic appliances custom-made for little smiles to help shift the teeth and guide jaw growth, reducing the severity of misalignment. These treatments can help reduce the need for jaw surgery or tooth extraction in the future, and even if your children still require orthodontics, this could mean less time wearing braces or Invisalign® aligners. We could use removable or fixed retainers, expanders, space maintainers, and potentially braces or aligners to provide the first phase of treatment.
